IRL

IRL ("in real life") is the category for streams that leave the desk behind such as walking tours, travel, city exploration, outdoor adventures, live events and everyday life on the go. The previous category name was "Travel & Outdoors".

IRL was one of Twitch's first non-gaming categories. In 2018 Twitch split it into more specific categories such as Just Chatting, Food & Drink and Talk Shows & Podcasts, and IRL itself remained the place for real-world, out-and-about streaming.

Mobile and backpack setups with bonded cellular connections are typical for IRL streamers, who often broadcast for many hours while moving around.
