Twitch Global Emote

BloodTrail is one of Twitch's oldest emotes (ID 69) and was in use by February 2012. From the start chat has used it as an upbeat thumbs-up for 'good job', 'nice' or 'good luck': 'that's my favorite twitch thumbs-up by far' (2013), 'Thanks for the good luck and for my 2nd favorite Twitch emote. BloodTrail' (2015). Twitch uses it the same way, posting just 'BloodTrail #TheGameAwards' in 2020.

Many viewers see Meat Boy from Super Meat Boy in it, and the name would fit the game's trail of blood. But nobody involved ever confirmed that: when a viewer told Super Meat Boy co-creator Edmund McMillen in 2025 that it is 'the Meat Boy emote', the only reply was 'What does that mean?'.

It picked up regional followings too. In Brazil 'tropa do bloodtrail' became a spam wave big enough that streamers shared AutoMod tips to block it (2020), and viewers describe it as popular with Taiwanese and Japanese audiences.
