CODMW4 promotes Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, which Activision and Infinity Ward announced on 28 May 2026 for release on 23 October 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. The campaign is set during a full-scale North Korean invasion of South Korea: players fight as Private Park, a young South Korean soldier, while Captain Price wages an off-book war of his own.

The character 사 (sa) is the Sino-Korean numeral 'four', so it stands for the '4' in Modern Warfare 4. The game's VO director June Yoon, retweeted by Infinity Ward, wrote the title as 'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 사'. In Korean, 사 is also a homophone of the Sino-Korean word for death (死), which is why four is considered an unlucky number there.
