Twitch Global Emote

CorgiDerp went global in early May 2015, a month after one viewer asked 'why isn't there a corgi emote on Twitch?'. Everything points to it being Lana, the corgi of streamer SuushiSam, and to it starting out as one of SuushiSam's channel emotes. On the day it went global, viewers wrote to SuushiSam 'Just saw your emote went global.' and 'I'm spreading the love of CorgiDerp all over Twitch ... Be proud, @LanaTheCorgi, we love your face!', and another asked 'is that new twitch emote of a corgi lana?'. Neither SuushiSam nor Twitch ever confirmed it, though.

'Derp' is slang for a goofy, happily clueless moment, so chat uses CorgiDerp for wholesome silliness and cute dog energy, and spams it as a cheer ('CorgiDerp WELCOME BACK CorgiDerp'). Corgi owners adopted it as a mascot right away: 'Can't wait to use the new #CorgiDerp emote ... Yuki is excited'.
