Twitch Global Emote

panicBasket was chosen by the audience at Twitch's first Town Hall panel at PAX Prime 2014, where Twitch had invited attendees to 'Vote on the next global emoticon'. djWHEAT announced it on 3 September 2014: 'Ladies and Gentlemen... DO NOT PICNIC! THERE IS NO NEED TO PICNIC! You can now "panicBasket" on @Twitch!' He added that it was 'selected as the new Global Emoticon during the Twitch Town Hall Panel at PAX. JUSTICE SERVED!'

The name is a pun on 'PICNIC', chat's deliberate misspelling of 'panic' when a stream breaks, hence a picnic basket. Two days later, Twitch Support used it exactly that way: 'The Twitch Blog ... is currently down. We are working to resolve. Don't panicBasket.' Despite the name, it is unrelated to PanicVis.
