Twitch Global Emote

pastaThat completes the 'copyThis pastaThat' pun on copypasta, chat's habit of copying and re-pasting a block of text, with 'pasta' standing in for 'paste'. Together with copyThis it marks a message as copypasta or urges others to repeat it. The food joke is part of the gag: one viewer liked it as a '+1 food emote'. Another predicted in 2016 that 'the new pastaThat emote will be used for awful stuff, won't it?'

It started as a Twitch Turbo emote in August 2015 and is the half of the pair Twitch promoted itself. At PAX East 2016 Twitch ran three days of pin giveaways: 'Find these two unicorns handing out exclusive @Twitch "pastaThat" pins in the #PAXEast lobby!' It went global in September 2016 around PAX West, when viewers listed it among the 'New global emotes!', though Twitch never announced that.
