Twitch Global Emote

TriHard is speedrunner and streamer trihex, who calls it 'a depiction of myself' and 'my emote'. It began at an anime convention: trihex traces it to 'a @teamfourstar panel at A-Kon 2012' and adds that 'TriHard didn't become an emote until *weeks* later. It was an in-chat meme' first. The name puns on trihex and 'try hard', and trihex lives by it: 'I try to live true to the spirit of my emote, TriHard. Controller cam, high APM, max YOLO'.

Twitch ranked TriHard 11th in its Top Global Emotes of 2017. Chat has also abused the emote for racist spam, and trihex has pushed back for years: 'I absolutely do not condone any abuse of a depiction of myself that, in itself, has zero racist qualities (TriHard)… My happy smile will not be hijacked as hate fuel' (2021).
