Twitch Global Emote

TwitchVotes comes from Twitch's 2017 drive to get the US Twitch community registered to vote: 'Sign up to participate in TwitchVotes to help get the entire Twitch community registered to vote 🇺🇸📈💜', a post Twitch retweeted and that linked to Twitch's own sign-up form for National Voter Registration Day. Streamers joined in ('please register to vote! #twitchvotes'), and the emote was in chat by October 2017. Who designed it was never stated.

In chat it has drifted far from voter registration. It now mostly serves as a mock ballot or press-release marker for copypasta: 'TwitchVotes <name>: <quote>', spammed as if announcing an official vote or campaign slogan, especially in Spanish-speaking communities. It also shows up in political protest copypasta, as in The International 2019 chat.
