UnSane is the face of Tom (@UnsanityLIVE), a streamer and caster whose X bio reads 'Ambassador for @Twitch | Global Emote Haver | Voice Actor | CA | Twitch/JTV Broadcaster since 2009'. It is one of the old ones: in January 2012 a viewer listed it among 'New stream monster technology' next to BloodTrail, BibleThump and FrankerZ. 'Unsane' is Tom's deliberate misspelling of 'insane' and Tom's brand ('the Unsane Community', 2012), and Tom leans into it constantly: 'NO, CORRECT SPELLING OF UNSANE IS MY WEAKNESS!!', 'Two casts in one night? You might just say I'm UNSANE'.

In chat it means 'this is crazy', often paired with Kappa ('@UnsanityLIVE is casting. UnSane HYPE!'). Fans loved explaining it: 'My friend Tom on twitch is considered famous ish, He has his own face :D you can type UnSane in the chat'. Tom keeps celebrating it, from a clip URL that 'has UnSane in it' to a clay contest 'to see who could best reproduce UnSane'. Its current ID dates from late August 2016, when Tom posted 'They like me, they really like me *sob* #twitch #UnSane #emote'.
