This badge is displayed by users who hold the Lead Moderator role in a channel. Lead Moderators can add or remove other moderators and update all of the channel's moderation settings, including those previously only available to the streamer. Users with the role receive this badge by default, but can choose to display the regular moderator badge instead.
The role was announced at TwitchCon San Diego in October as part of a wider roles update and launched on December 17 (18:34 UTC), with the badge appearing in the badge registry on December 8.
