This badge is awarded to people who have gifted at least 1 subscription to another viewer in a channel, and it appears in the chat of the community where the gift was given. Subscription gifting launched on Twitch on November 15, 2017, and the Sub Gifter badge itself was introduced on April 2, 2018 to recognize the generosity of gifters.
When it was introduced, the badge stayed visible for as long as any gifted subscription given by the user was still active, and disappeared once the gifted subscription(s) expired. Higher tiers of the gifter badge were later added for viewers who gift larger numbers of subscriptions in a community.
